New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Deja vu all over again but this time in red. Just listed in a 7 day auction with no reserve and starting at $9.99 is a 1958 Western Electric Cherry Red 500 with soft center finger wheel. Within the first hour of being listed, the auction attracted 1 bidder so this auction will go to completion and we should have a winner. Question is, who will that be and what will they have guessed?

NOTE: we will use a $5 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest. That would be about a 2% gap for this phone and it makes it easier to place your guesses.

So, once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the actions ends?

The seller listed it as an "1958 Western Electric 500 red tenite (soft plastic) telephone" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " with the auction listing description saying simply "Up for auction is a 1958 Western Electric 500 in Cherry Red tenite. Most dates inside, (with the exception of the cords) are from October or August 1958, and all plastic parts are original. Although neither cord is original, they both asthetically replicate the factory cords. Bottom line is that I don't see any evidence of this phone ever being sent to a refurbishment shop in its lifetime. The plastic isn't perfect, although there are no appreciable chips or cracks; see photos for details. Dial card is not original."

I do believe this belongs to one of our members. Being as it is not shiny like the last one, I don't think it will go very high, $60.00.

Yep, it belongs to me! :)

I agree, not shiny, but pleasantly original IMO.

I'll say $65.

Okay, so here is the real question: what do you want it to go for?

A bit of apples and oranges but I seem to remember this red phone

sold for $305 just a few days ago . . .  ::)

It was discussed here:  http://www.classicrotaryphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=15116.0

A phone phanatic since I was less than 2 (thanks to Fisher Price); collector since a teenager; now able to afford to play!

Well, anything at or above $60 would be great, but I would realistically say that it will go for anything in between $60 and $85, but it's just my humble opinion. Phone prices are everywhere lately, so it's hard to tell what this should go for...
