Oh no!  The modern incarnation of making a candlestick phone into a lamp!

Even though it was a pushbutton trimline, it's still a waste of a perfectly good telephone. :(

Someone had way too much free time.

So, if you hang it up, does it then flash 12:00 continuously??

Do you think this might be a WE shop project?  I ask because the flat orange panel to which the clock is mounted exactly matches the plastic of the phone.

Good question Bingster.  It certainly is fancy, the hook button adjusts the time and the panel that holds the clock is a perfect match in color and fit.  If it's a homemade job it's very well done, much more sophisticated than we normally see.

Or possibly a Junior Achievement project.  The Indianapolis plant sponsored several groups over the years.

It does appear to be very well done. The phone base appears to be empty but still uses a modular cord connection. There is also that neat connector for the modular cord to the transformer. It also appears at least one of us likes it ;)

I am very curious, I just sent the seller a message asking for a picture  of the inside. I am not sure he can get any.

Possibly, but not necessarily.  I believe the eBay auction already had one bid when I posted this message here.

Yes and that bid is from one of our members ;D
Maybe if he wins he can provide pictures of under the hood ::)

I wonder how they set it.

Here are three photos of one that was auctioned in 2005, and a few others.

Of course you would find more examples ;) Those all appear to have some variations from the one on eBay now. But I do see that transformer plug on one.

Some of the trimline clocks were made as retirement gifts. Most of them were probably pretty much the same whether they were made by WE or by JA

I took a WE "retirement" lamp to the Lyon's show. It  is a very neat retirement gift from around 1984.

A few years later all they could give folks  was a trimline clock.

I'll fess up -- I'm currently bidding on it.  I don't often go for "homemade" things, but this one appears to be nicely done, and orange just happens to be my favorite color!
