Auction 149: Western Electric 1954 Oxford Gray 500 Telephone - Ended 11/3/14

Listed a little over one day ago with no reserve ( thanks to Doug Rose for the heads up ).

This phone is being discussed in detail on the forum under the topic Look what I found for $3.

The phone was listed at $30.00 and since being listed is up to $205.50 with 4 bidders offering 17 bids.

So, with that said, once again, who knows best what this phone will sell for when the bidding ends?

The seller listed it as an "Western Electric Oxford Gray 500 Telephone 1954 " with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " with the auction listing description as "This is a Western Electric 500 Oxford Gray telephone from 1954, the only 2 things that are not original to the phone is the telephone number card and the line cord (cord to the wall/outlet). The phone is in great shape, there are a few very minor scratches. The phone works well, I have made phone calls out and have received calls on it, it has a nice loud ring. The gray handset cord is in great shape, no cracks on it. The dial is a bit sluggish, it needs to be lubed/oiled, I have not done this because I don't know how on this type of dial, I have dialed out and it dose work.

I have had several inquiries about a mark right of center on the front part of the plastic housing this is not a scratch, it appears to be a mark from a magic marker from years ago.

Picture 2 was taken after cleaning most of the mark off.

On Oct-28-14 at 10:16:50 PDT, seller added the following information:

The marker mark that was on the front of the phone, was removed, I wanted to replace the pictures showing the mark with new pictures showing the mark is gone, Ebay says once a bid is placed on the item pictures and information can not be changed, so if you want to see pictures with out the mark, message me and I'll send them to you.....Thanks"
