This is meant to be a "design museum", so this is a unique Contempra.

Would it have the Mona Lisa reversed?

"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Adam

No, no!  That's the left-handed version!

Um... this actually got me to thinking... (I know, that's dangerous!)  Why don't we have left-handed phones?

I just photoshopped this up from an image in my files...

Well I would use my right hand to pick them up, or am I mad?

Nice photoshopping though...
"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Adam

Yes, that's correct.  Right-handed people naturally pick up the receiver with their left hand, because they're going to dial with their right hand.  So, on these phones, the receiver is on the right so left-handed people can pick up the receiver with their right hand without having to reach over the instrument.

(Thanks.  Photoshopping is FUN!)

I kinda get your point, but my brother is left handed "corrie dukit" as we say here, and yes I dial with my right hand so maybe we need a undiscrimatory kind off phone like maybe a trimphone?

Or a Trimline?  ???

Actually you have set me off on an experiment, I'm gonna plant a Trimphone in my brothers room, ring it and see what hand he uses,,, :)

I love those phones!  Especially the color pictured!  (Included below for those who are hard-of-clicking).

But, as I collect mainly American phones, they're out of my collecting niche, so I don't own one...

Dave  - you are correct, I always pick up with left hand and dial/tone with my right, and always the index finger to dial.

Weird innit?

Mind you weird was driving a left hand drive car with the gearstick on my right, took a while to get used to.

Yes, it is weird.

I plan on visiting the UK at some point sooner than later, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to grasp driving on the wrong side of the road...

BTW, pushing buttons on a touch tone pad is still referred to as "dialing".

Similarly, we still call them "albums" even though the music comes all on one piece of media now, as opposed to the way multiple 78 RPM records were distributed in book-like sets called albums, very similar to photo albums.
