New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

One for lamp phone aficionados, restorers or parts hunters  ;) , something a bit different. Listed about 6 hours ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $9.99 is a very nice WE 151AL brass candlestick, or what once was before being drilled into a lamp, with a 2AB dial with what looks like a brass finger wheel. Looks to be in good physical condition but no internal photos so it's a bit of a pig in a  poke in that area. Since being listed, the auction attracted 3 buyers placing 3 bids driving the price up to a very high $19.50. The seller provided a good array of external photos (only some of which are posted below because many of the photos are just different angles of the same shot) and I am sure it will sell for a bit more than $25 when the dust settles, in a little less than 7 days. So, once again, who best knows what this item will sell for when the auction ends? Should be a tough price to guess with those 4 parameters in play - cup drilled into a lamp phone, #2 dial, brass and no internal photos.

NOTE:We will use a $2 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $2 away from prior guesses for this contest.

The seller listed it as an "ANTIQUE AMERICAN BELL WESTERN ELECT TELEPHONE BRASS CANDLESTICK TELEPHONE LAMP" with the item condition as "Used" and "TRANSMITTER IN BACK HAS AMERICAN BELL FRONT HAS AMERICAN TELE TEL. BOTTOM BASE IS WESTERN ELECTRIC PAT DATE AUG 13 / 1912 AUG 24 / 1915MAY 7 / 1918 SEPT 17 , 1921" and with the auction listing description saying simply "RECEIVER IS A AMERICAN TELEPHONE TELEGRAPH RECEIVER & BOTTOM BASE IS WESTERN ELECTRIC PAT DATE AUGUST 16, 1904  SEPT 13, 1904"

And the winner of Auction Contest #235 is Kenton K who with the 7th entry into the contest guessed $110.00 which gave him his 6th win in the Auction Contests. That would be two wins in the week having already won October's Find of the Month and then showing his weakness in guessing by missing the final selling price here by a whopping 31 cents. Where did he go wrong? All kidding aside, a big congratulations goes out to Kenton K for another win in the CRPF Auction Contests and for moving up one rung in the Contest Standings.

This phone started off at $9.99 and moved up to $45 in the first few days where it sat until the last day of the auction. About 4 hours to go, the phone jumped to $110 and that was the last bid, no last second snipes so someone got a deal. That dial alone was worth a bit more than that, and everything else were free extras. So, when the action ended, h***r ( 1430 ) took the phone home for $110.31. The auction attracted 9 bidders placing 19 bids.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
