Hi All:

While in town today, I was given a pair of relay burnishers by an ex-switching supervisor of Island Tel. One is a PK Neuses CB-54, and the other, a Northern Electric NE-265C.

WE also has its equivalent to the NE, the WE-265C.

These are both the pen type, with blades stored in the handle - the Northern Electric one comes with both flat bladed, and abrasive wire type burnishers in the handle.

Ne's T-9 catalog reads"NE-265C - Designed for cleaning contact points of relays.Consists of a chuck which is designed for holding any NE-266E tool. Furnished with an NE-266 tool in the chuck, and 6 NE-266C and six NE-266E in the magazine."

These are used to burnish the contacts of relays in a non-abrasive way. They can safely be used to burnish gold contacts without  metal loss.

I have a newer Jonard PB-3R in my toolkit, but personally,  I prefer the NE to the others, as it has more heft to it!
