Reason for 3 red bars painted on WE B1 plunger bar

Hi All:
I have a WE B1 with three red painted vertical bars on the backside of the cradle plunger bar. I have never seen this mark before.
Can anyone explain the purpose of this marking? The date on the base is II-31. I have attached a photo.

I had a B1 dated III 32 with a 2HB dial also dated III 32.

I am surprised as well as I have a D1 Dated 2 30 and a B1 also Dated 2 30. I thought 2 30 was the end of the B1s. I don't remember seeing a B1 with Roman numerals in the date either....Doug

Here is a 2HB dial dated II 32. If the 4-36 mounting screws are original, then I don't think it was on a C1 "space saver." Won't fit on a D1 because of the outside finger stop.

About 20 years ago, I was motivated to experiment at installing #2 dials on D-mounts, 5302s and other sets.

North Galions have an even deeper recess for the original dials. After I was eventually able to find a 76 mm (3") AE dial here in Europe, I had to notice that I still would need those spacers.
I ended up using 3 spacing bolts from obsolete computer hardware. The thread is exactly the same.
The phone came with a French 80 mm dial, fitted on top of the shell with an elaborate spacing bracket. It even combined imperial and metric threads.
The AE dial had room enough for the relatively long screws, otherwise the enamel number ring might be damaged when using too long screws.
