Clear 1958 Western Electric 500- not mine

A question was just posted on the lists about this phone. A very nice looking Clear WE 500. I know nothing about it, just posting it for those who may be interested. Way above my budget! I have never seen one this clear, almost no yellowing at all. Very clean. The question was why it would be a field trial or prototype? I don't think it is. I think the seller is calling it that because of the "F" number.

Entirely likely. Many don't know that F-codes were used for other purposes than field trial sets -- as we have discussed before...
