I'm going to be installing a Western Electric D1 mount with a 684 subset in a relative's home, and they want the installation to be as authentic-looking as practical. I'm going through BSPs on installation and I know where the subset will be going and how to wire it. My question is how the subset is typically connected to the line.  There is currently no jack or connection block where the set it going, so all options are available.

Of course it would have been hardwired to the line back then. If there is no wire there you will have to acquire some period correct inside station wire and thumb tack it to the baseboards back to the fused prot likely in the middle of the basement mounted on a pillar!
