New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about an hour ago in a 7 day auction with no reserve starting at $100.00 is a very nice looking SC oil can candlestick. The only major issue noticed was damage to the receiver. The seller did not provide internal base photos but those provided show the phone well. Within the first hour of being listed, it attracted 2 buyers placing 2 bids driving the price up to $202.50. I'm sure it will go up but how far is once again the question. So, who best knows what this item will sell for when the auction ends?

NOTE: we will use a $5 gap rule between guesses again to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest.

The seller listed it as an "Vintage Antique 1894 Stromberg Carlson Oil Can Candlestick Telephone" with the item condition as " used " and " - - - " and with the auction listing description saying simply "I have no idea of what this phone is made(chrome ?) of or if it actually works. Up for auction is a vintage Stromberg-Carlson Oil Can Candlestick Telephone. I took some very detailed and close up pics for you to determine the quality and value of this item. Here is what I can see: The receiver is marked: Stromberg-Carlson Telephone MFG. Co. Rochester, NY. The back of the receiver is marked: MFD. By Stromberg-Carlson Tel. Mfg. Co. Rochester, NY, USA. The base is marked; 278137 plus it has the Serial/ID number on it of 686388. The handset is marked;  Stromberg-Carlson Tel. Mfg. Co. Rochester. Pats. June 12 - Nov, 27-94. In overal nice condition. The handset has several chips in it and is not in perfect condition. Again See photos for details. ."
