Hi all:

Today, I received a copy of "Tradition and Promise", a history of N.B. Tel from 1888-1988. I found a photo in it, I thought you might find interesting. The biggest Uniphone No. 1 Ever. Ever!!!!!

Caption: "The workhouse of the 1950s, the black telephone (here in giant sized model) is flanked by some of its predecessors in the company's display at the 1950 Saint John Exhibition."

BC Tel had a 6 foot AE 80 in Garnet Red. I don't know where it went or what it was for, maybe a parade float?

Looks like they had  bit of trouble scaling the fingerwheel up on that giant Uniphone!

For sure! Love to have that neat little demo Strowger unit shown on the left hand side of the photo!

Yes, that is another thing that BC Tel had that I have no idea where it went to. A Strowger demo very similar to the set up that I have in that it was one shelf of switches that could put through a 7 digit call. It was in a plexiglass case with a Starlite Phone on each side. I put quite a few calls through it playing with it but haven't seen it for years now. Apparently it was a display used at our Pacific National Exposition each summer in a Vancouver.

Another photo from the same book - this one reminds me of the famous photo of one of the three stooges standing on the superstructure for a skyscraper!
