I have copied the wiring off a ringing ebay phone and even tried to read schematics, but it won't ring. This phone had a freq. ringer originally, and this is a SL ringer off an AE 40   parts phone. I marked the two wires off the coil with tape (left one plain, right one red dot) so you could follow where they travel. Any ideas? Thanks!!!!!

Dan,
The wires look right. Try this to see if your ringer works - disconnect your ringer leads and put a 1.mfd @ 250 V capacitor across one side of ringer and hook it up like the picture. Make sure the clapper arm can move freely, it looks like someone changed the coil assy. on your ringer .     stub

Dan: Do you have a DVM you could use to check for continuity? You should see a few hundred ohms per coil ...
