It arrived this morning, hooked it to the PBX, rings fine.

Now the battery, it still had the original in it date stamped 20th February 1956!

Bizzarely the battery wasn't too decayed and the screw on terminals were nice and clean, obviously it held no charge so to get a speaking circuit I croc-clipped a donor 2 x 1.5 D cells and holder from one of the 250A's.

Result - dial tone, dialled BT test number and its all fine, rings, dials out.

These sets are practically idiot-proof, well they must be if all it took me to do was fire 3V into it and it works like dream.

Very pleased with this one folks.
"now this should take five minutes, where's me screwdriver went now..?"

Very cool :D
I am really surprised the battery after being in there over 50 years was not leaking or corroded ;D
In looking at the pictures I was thinking it looked pretty much unused, the handset cord and wires all looked really good and the alligator clips look like they were still wrapped in plastic :D
