Something different to the Auction Contest portfolio thanks to a heads up from Fabius. Listed about a half day ago in a 7 day auction is an Associated General Public Telephone Double Sided Porcelain Sign which started at $5.00 with no reserve and after about 14 hours is now up to $22.50 by way of 6 bids from 6 bidders. There has been a lot of discussion on the forum about porcelain signs to members should have a good idea of what a sign like this might sell for on eBay. It should sell for more but the question is, how much more?

The seller listed it as an "Associated General Public Telephone Diecut Arrow Porcelain Sign Double Sided NR!" with the item condition as "Used" and " - - - " with the auction listing description as "Good Size 17" Wide & 11" center circle diameter Public Telephone Sign, Nice Telephone Telegraph Pole Graphic, Heavy Diecut Porcelain Associated Telephone Company LTD. General Telephone System, has some mounting chips around the top holes and a couple chips near the arrow feather area, overall Very Good- Excellent Condition, Nice Deep Cobalt Blue And White, measuring ruler not included, No Reserve!!!!"

NOTE: we will use a 4% gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, guess gaps of 8+% can be split. I'll help with these as the auction goes forward and guesses are entered.

It's another chance to move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list for as twocvbloke said,    - - - >  "You gotta be in it to win it ! ! !". . .   ;D "

New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Fabius

$408. Rare sign. Has a little damage where it was hung from a bracket. It's the arrow design that will drive the final price on this one.

And the winner of Auction Contest #131 is TelePlay, who with the 7th entry ( of 8 ) into the contest offered the winning guess of $472.50. That guess gave him his fourth auction contest win moving him up one rung in the Contest Standings. It was a very close contest with Sargeguy's guess of $440 being $19 below the selling price and TelePlay being $13.50 above the winning bid. This was Teleplay's first win since Auction Contest #89, 42 contest ago.

The auction bids moved up steadily from $5 to $317.00 over 7 days and was won by v***e ( 194 ), with the higher of two last second snipes, for $459.00. The auction saw a lot of interest with 16 bidders offering 27 bids. Thanks again to Fabius for suggesting this item for an auction contest.

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win.
