$7.95 apiece? That would be about right for a complete AE 80 telephone set. Always ask on the forum first!

My friend is losing his warehouse and he has a few thousand of these. Unlike the WE transmitters, the AE transmitters have no gold. The gold ones go for about 20c apiece for the gold contact so these should be 10 cents each or less.

By the way, the same transmitter fits an AE 40 or an AE 80.

Steve Hilsz has them. Very reasonable too. I think he has the 41 and 81, they are the similar, but I think there may be a slight internal difference, -Howard

Never figured out if there is a difference or not but they seem to be interchangeable.  Let me know if no one else comes through with one for you. Might have to wait a bit for he to mail one though.

You can try heating the cap with a hair dryer, carefully tapping it around the perimeter, and using a strap wrench to turn it.

I ususally use the plastic handle from one of my screwdrivers, be careful not to cause little dimples in the caps.    After that,  the small strap wrench works pretty well.
