I don't see any wiring changes required when installing the "hooklatch:"

         8. HOOKLATCH (optional)

            Order 1 H-78833-1 special lift bar and 1 H-78833-6
         grooved plunger.

            Open the telephone (page 4).

Inside the housing (figure 14) remove the 4 hookswitch-
mounting screws H, and outside the housing remove the
         original lift bar.

Inside the housing, raise the hookswitch assembly, pull
out the old right-hand plunger, and put grooved plunger
         H-78833-6 in its place.

Outside the housing, put lift bar H-78833-1 in the cradle.
Inside the housing (figure 14) insert and tighten the 4
         hookswitch-mounting  #5-40 x 1 3/16" RHIM screws H.

Put base on housing, and tighten the 2 base-mounting
         screws (figure 4).

When making a call, a party-line caller lifts the hand-
set out of the cradle, and listens whether the line may be
in use already. If he hears nothing, he pushes the release
lever, and makes his call. Caution the subscriber he must
push the release lever to ANSWER an INCOMING call
         also.
