Hey,

Just got back from a mini vacation in Michigan.  I stopped at my antiques malls in Michigan and found a very cool sign.  I cost me 70 dollars. I had to have it.  It shows some rust, paint lost but I think it gives it character. Here are some pics.  Its very heavy for its size...

In my presently rather sleepy state, I thought that said "The Cheapskate Potomac Telephone Company"... :o

That is very cool, and I don't remember seeing one like that before.  Since this would have been at the office and not advertising a payphone, it is probably less common.  I bet Sargeguy could provide some input on this....

I never seen anything like it before.  Its not porcelain, its very heavy.  I had to have it in my collection.  It has some rust spots, but overall in nice shape...

Pretty cool, I wonder where exactly it would hang, meaning a check mailing office or what?

That would look good in an office or shop.

I remember a sign like this in my local drug store growing up.  These are much less common than typical "public telephone" signs.  Chesapeake and Potomac was a fairly large Bell subsidiary so there stuff is not that rare, but I would not go using it as a support for a heater pipe any time soon.  I would estimate that, even with the rust, you got a really good deal.   At the very least $400 would be my estimate, probably higher.

The idea that a four-year degree is the only path to worthwhile knowledge is insane.

Notice that it's not just a C&P sign but C&P of West Virginia. Which is scarcer.
