eBay can go for weeks without anything special and then, wham, two interesting phones listed within an hour of each other. This phone starts high at $249.00 but should go up once someone jumps into the bidding waters. It is another 7 day auction so should end just after contest 101 closes. Looking at the contest rules, I found nothing about running two auctions simultaneously.  ;)

The seller listed it as an "Antique 1895 Candle Stick Potbelly Phone Telephone Ericsson Vintage Bakelite OLD" with the item condition as "Used" and states "Offered is this 1895 Potbelly Chrome & Bakelite Candle Stick Phone with stamping/lettering around the chrome mouth piece area of  "PATENTED OCT. 29, 1895 MADE IN SWEDEN BY A B L M ERICSSON & CO. STOCKHOLM". This phone stands approx. 11 inches tall & the old man that we bought this phone from told us that he repaired a small crack in the chrome section where the silver is a slightly different color. I wish he would have left this phone alone & let the professionals repair the crack, but THE NEW OWNER CAN UNDO WHAT HE DID. This rare phone has ALL ITS ORIGINAL PARTS  with a black bakelite mouthpiece (tiny chip in it)  & original cord & receiver ~ which are in fantastic condition.".

When processing the photos, I spotted a few issues so please go to the eBay listing and look at the posted pictures rather than rely on this limited but representative set of photos.

You can find a similar candlestick and over 190 other rare candlesticks from that time period at the ->Old Telephones<- website. They don't list values so you are on your own when taking a guess at what the 102nd phone in our Auction Contest section will end up selling for when the bidding ends on September 22nd.

Still another chance to either move up a rung or to get onto the -> Contest Standings <- list, you have to play to win!

New members on the forum are always very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one.

Go high ($3,370) or go low ($2,125), that is the question, and the problem with taking one of the last guesses in the contest after the winning guess is already on the board . . .  ???

Where's that coin?

It came up tails (low) so it's $2,125 for me . . .
