New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Just listed in a 10 day auction with no reserve is this interesting Lord Electric Company intercom? candlestick that seems to be in very good physical condition. It was listed at $9.50 plus $20.87 for shipping and within the first few hours of it being listed, it has received one bid. I'm sure that will change. The question is, how many times, how fast and how much? So, with that said, once again, who knows best what this phone will sell for when the bidding ends?

The seller listed it as an "Rare ANTIQUE CANDLESTICK intercom TELEPHONE by LORD ELECTRIC COMPANY BOSTON" with the item condition as " - - -  ” and " - - - " with the auction listing description as "'Frederic W. Lord, a student from M.I.T. and a visionary in the electrical engineering field, founded LORD ELECTRIC COMPANY in 1895, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was quick to envision the changes America would encounter as electricity became a major force in the industry and he was determined to stand at the forefront of these advances in order to bring a better future for the society.' See the piece, "History," on the lordelectric.com web page, click here, to read the piece. Frederic Lord was in the business of electrifying the homes of rich people towards the end of the 19th century. He started manufacturing all kinds of equipment and parts, such as telephones, lightning arresters and many other parts and instruments. If you Google the term Lord Electric Co. Boston, you will find a lot of information; Lord Electric Co sold Lightning Protection equipment according to this website: click here!  Please look at pictures for condition; the receiver appears to be a later replacement. The bottom has no felt cover to prevent scratching the surface the phone is placed on. Other then that, the phone seems to be in original condition.
In 1910, the Lord Electric co.located on 213 W. 40th St., New York, N.Y. ."

NOTE: we will use a 3% gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, guess gaps of 6+% can be split. I'll help with these as the auction goes forward and guesses are entered.

It's another chance to move up a rung or to get onto the CRPF -> Contest Standings <- list,

. . . for as twocvbloke said,   ---> "You gotta be in it to win it !!!" ;D "

Here's the 3% "no crowding" gap spreadsheet for this contest with 9 guesses.

Available guesses or guess ranges are shown in GREEN within the small upper right black bordered box.

And, the winner of Auction Contest #150 is Sargeguy, who with the 6th entry into the contest offered the winning guess of $425.00.  That guess not only gave him his 11th win in our auction contests but also vaulted him into the position of all around Grand Champion by breaking his tie with Dan at 10 wins. Quite the feat, indeed. Once again, our congratulations go out to Sargeguy for winning this Auction Contest and moving up to the top and undisputed rung in the Contest Standings. Actually, by winning this contest, he added a rung to the ladder of success! Way to go Greg!

This phone started at $9.50 and slowly to $282 in the first few days and staying there until the last 9 seconds of the auction when 3 snipes came to drive the price up with m***x ( 1955 ) offering the winning bid of $431.00 to take the phone home. The auction saw 7 bidders placing 12 bids.

Check out the updated Contest Standings to see who's who through 153 contests and the latest additions to the CRPF Hall of Fame

Thanks again to all who played. As always, there is only one way to get on the winner's board or move up a rung - you have to play to win. And, as proof positive of playing often has its merits, Sargeguy got to the top by playing in nearly every contest. Congratulations to him once again for achieving that lofty status!
