I found my birthday present on Craigslist last week and packed it home.  It's a 1964 solid state console.  The cabinet looks in very nice shape.  the receiver works nicely and the Collaro record changer works nicely as well.  It has front oblique horn tweeters and side firing woofers.

I pulled the receiver and cleaned out all the controls and made a note of it's model number and part values on the usual suspects.  I reassembled it and put the Terk antenna on it and listened to my favorite radio program on it.  The old thing sounds wonderful.  If you enjoy older jazz, this program is available streamed.

Nice find!
Love those old console players!

I've cleaned up much of the interior and fascia of the receiver and cleaned off the record changer and drive tires.  I ordered new stylus for it and it plays records quite well.  I have got together a service folder for it and will be getting new capacitors for it soon.  One thing got by my notice and that was that the AM isn't receiving.  I do get rush noise so it seems like it will be the rf portion.  The transistors in this unit are so old they don't list JAN equivalents to try to research them.

It's looking good. Me, I'd be dusting off 'Nancy & Lee, The Best Of' (definitely a Desert Island Disc), and enjoying every crackle that only vinyl can offer.

Thanks!  That was also when Indiana would give any other high tech region a run for it's money.

Shortly after getting this unit, I made the investment in a good size window A/C unit and installed it in the living room window.  That severely hobbled the reception using my Terk indoor antenna.  I removed it for the season a couple of weeks ago and the reception has improved beyond being in urban reception range.  I can get most of the FM band now.  The console  has been a valuable investment.  I have a Technics stereo receiver and a good set of speakers I hardly use as I prefer this old timer.

Nice. This type are loving called "aircraft carriers" due to their size and flat top. Some have pretty powerful amplifiers. Is it a mono or stereo receiver?

It's solid state.  Funny enough, the transistor list through the low end portions are the first commercial transistors offered by GE.  It has a pair of 12 inch speakers and 2 large horn tweeters.
