I've been watching this auction for a couple days now, and I can't quite figure out what is going on with this phone.  Advertised as a Kellogg, but it appears to be an AE 21 with a Kellogg perch and transmitter.  Can anyone explain how you get a Kellogg perch on top of the AE stem and receiver hook?  I've never personally created a frankenphone like this, so I'm curious how you top off an AE like they did here.

I guess that the Kellogg perch could slip over the shaft of the AE 21 stand.
It is hard to tell from the pictures as to what slips into what.
In some eBay listings the seller always seem to omit ane important picture, either the bottom, or a better profile picture of the item.

This is an Autelco rebuild. This was part of AE and during the war years other makes of non dial sets were rebuilt with AE conversion parts. The telephone companies couls not buy new sets during wwll. There might be a stamp "AR"in a circle inside it.

Thanks for the history lesson.  I'll have to do some research on Autelco.  Apparently some other people already knew who the maker was, as the price has now jumped to $145.

I see one like this sold not too long ago for $750.  These prices seem a little high, but maybe it's because of the historical significance?

sold for $162.45.  A lot more than I thought it would sell for.
