New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed about a day ago in a 5 day auction with no reserve and starting at $74.50 ( with thanks for a PM tip from WEBellSystemChristian ) is an interesting red 302 with a dial blank, but no number card retainer. It seems to be quite clean, crack free and the base looks like NOS. But what do I know? Within the first half day on eBay, the listing attracted 5 bidders placing 8 bids leaving the current bid at $128.50. I have a feeling there will be some price escalation over the next 4 days. How much? So, who knows what the final bid will be when the auction ends?

NOTE: we will use a $7 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $8 away from prior guesses for this contest. That would be about a 3% gap for this phone but makes it easier to place your guesses.

So, once again, who best knows what this phone will sell for when the actions ends?

The seller listed it as an "Vtg Red Plastic Telephone Western Electric 50s Rotary Dial Bell System ClothCord" with the item condition as "Used" and "Offered as shown. Rotary dial is missing. Some surface scratches. We are out of plastic polish so I have not done anything to improve it. Cord is clean. Offered exactly as we found it. I have no way of testing to see if it works." with the auction listing description simply saying "Neat old phone for restoration or parts as shown. Please ask questions or express concerns before bidding, phones are not our area of expertise."

I'm always that guy who guesses max top dollar, but with this phone, who knows? It may very well get more than top dollar, it looks brand spanking new!

It almost has the translucency of the Batphone! :D
