Well, like many of you, I also collect some telephone parafernalia, besides collecting phones.

Some of the stuff I collect I´m really going to use. I got myself this box with Original PTT wall sockets. NOS. 16,75 incl postage.

I´m really going to use some of them for the telephone network in my house. They are not as nice as black bakelite ones, but these are incredibly rare. It took me 8 years to collect 4 of these.

Next to that a pencil, made of alpacca. That is a silvery metal alloy. The pencil is marked as such. It is very old. It has the logo of Heemaf, a Dutch telephone manufacturer (and they made a lot of other electrical equipment). 20 euro. A bit steep. I had a good sale a couple of days ago.  8)

And there is of course the red box. I´m really over the moon with that. Not with the box, but with whats in it. Can you guess what is in it? I´ll give you a hint. It is not telephone equipment. An object of beauty. All will be revealed tomorrow. Or saturday.

It could be anything in the box, but I am looking forward to tomorrow's update.

Here it is. It is a very well made sort of dish, surrounded by Heemaf logo´s. It is chromed or nickel plated.

I do not think it is an ashtray, but I do not know what it was made for. Some kind of promotional gift, I guess.

Depending on size, it may also be a desktop golf ball display holder. For that special "hole in one ball".

Hahaha, thanks for these ideas. It may have been anything. Fruitbowl is somewhat less likely, as it will hold only a small apple or a tangerine.

I like it.  You can use for paper clips or whatever.  What is the diameter of the opening?

The diameter of the bowl is 7 cm, a little under 3 inch. The width of the whole thing is 9 cm, 3,5 inch.

Peanut bowl, it has to be... ;D

Either that or a pretzel bowl... ;D

Matilo Telephones

It is a Dutch manufacturer. So that would be borrelnootjes, katjangnootjes or, for the holiday season kruidnootjes for Sinterklaas.

The Borrelnootjes just seem to be a variation on the coated beer nuts (which are peanuts coated in something crunchy and flavoured accordingly) theme, so peanuts still stands... ;D

Matilo Telephones

Agreed.

But pretzels are less common and maybe not the first thing to be put in.

Thinking about this, I love to have some borrelnuts while watching HIGNFY on a friday night. So next time I may actually use the bowl.
