This is really a beautiful phone! Did a forum member get it?

I've read Dougs various threads about his toasters, including his rare-as-hens-teeth red toaster.
I didn't realize they were metal like the old 302's. Must be a heavy rascal.
That is SC handset on this beauty.....Doug
The orgional military Conn handsets were made of a bad quality plastic. Plastic would not buff well
I agree....I made that mistake....I thought it was bakelite and melted one with stripper
I dont see many other colors than black on auction sites...

Gray is the 2nd most common color for these. I have seen gray as plastic as well as metal.

Jim S.
The grey plastic ones were not military sets (TP6A) but CTE 1000 sets. There were some red painted metal sets with red plastic handsets but cannot remember the model number
The auction said the Chrome one weighed 14 pounds! so I'm guessing it's metal. Sure is a sweet looking phone. Would look great under a neon light in the kitchen...
The chrome toaster went for $102, the same price as the red AE 40. Some body must be bidding $101 as their maximum bid. Was this you Butch?

must have been in a different search string or something....I checked everything
I've noticed the standard black color models don't go for much...Haven't seen a chrome on eBay before....I've seen several gray one's where you could tell there was red paint underneath.....
Old Phone Works has them in various colors including chrome.

Old Phone Shop had them, one or two, and they were on eBay but are not listed now so maybe sold out.

Did they originally come in those many different colors? I've only ever heard of Gray, Black, Red, and Chrome being the natural factory colors....I don't know.
I doubt any chrome ones are factory. The signal corps most likely would not want such nonsince . Had lots plated while at COT .The zinc cases would not always plate properly and you had to pre grind holes etc to compensate for the thickness of the plating
Looks like it found it's way to eBay...Maybe?
