It is a toy intercom phone. Made by Chad Valley. Originally sold boxed in pairs.
Price is way too high at €44.

Thanks FABphones! £35 sounds reasonable for a pair in the box, provided someone is looking for vintage toys.
The other offer, not so much. I was just wondering what I was seeing there, and now I know.

I think the design of them is quite nice, they have tricked many a person into thinking they were 'real' old phones, although I was told they don't have the quality feel of a true Bakelite phone. The wheels on the bottom were placed as is so the phone could be turned on it's base for sharing.

I remember hearing that back in the day folks would buy and install them as an intercom between house and garage. How true that is I don't know but I think that is the type of market Chad Valley were aiming for. Not sure how well they worked.

They were also available in a mottled brown colourway.
