Would this work to make a 1950's color set  have the grey cord and look right

The crimp wouldn't have a matching date and the diameter of the cords  "loops" on these cords are narrower but it would be better than no cord at all.

That is the proper color cord for the 1958 clear 500 (F# set), and also the light grey set.

If you are trying to get the look of an early 500 with a grey cord this could be a sort of solution.  You could dye the cord a darker shade of grey, D/P has a thread here someplace about that process.

I have dyed a few pinks, so I think black but not soaked long would give you a dark grey effect
