This is being described as an American Chicago phone.
What is this please? Looks odd to me.

this appears to be a modified british 150 type candlestick. the brass funnel mouthpeice is off something else and put on  a " bulldog" transmiter. the set might be a reproduction but the receiver appears genuine. Nothing US of Chicago about it

Certainly not any American phone, no.  As Robbie said, the receiver looks genuine GPO as does the #10 dial, but it's a Frankenphone for sure.

Thanks, that has helped. A couple of parts I recognise, but that enormous 'funnel' threw me. I have never seen the likes of it.

I've asked for close up photos of the usual number placement areas. Am not sure I want a candlestick project, but I may have the parts to put this right. Seller wants £48 ish.

Look for stamped markings where the transmitter swival bolt is. Fakes will not be marked .

Definitely a modified GPO 150 - nothing looks remotely American about it.
Looks like the stem has been brass plated and an interesting transmitter cone added.
Receiver looks genuine GPO as does the No 10 dial.
Should be fine for parts/refurb, but £48 is perhaps pushing the limit a little.
:)

Thanks all, good to have these things pointed out.
I have decided against this one. Seller insists it is a Chicago phone, won't send pics of side/bolt as requested - seems to think fine detail can be zoomed in on across a table in low light from any angle.  ::)
Which reminds me, must watch Blade Runner again soon. ;D
