I was in the local antique store and I found an odd set. I have no pictures, but I can describe it. It is a wooden Western Electric local battery subset which I didn't get the model of and a non-dial Western Electric Spacesaver mounted to it. The Spacesaver is wired in with tags on the wires that look professional.

The price tag (other than saying it costs $105 firm) says that supposedly it was used for rural service in the 40s and 50s.

Was this an actual installed configuration or a Frankenphone?

Obviously I didn't buy it simply due to the price. For magneto demonstration sets and other purposes I'm better off with either Leich 901s or Military field phones.

The spacesaver can be mounted anywhere. I have seen them mount directly to the subset before.
BTW spacesaver is an AE name.

I believe combinations like this (prewired or with wire tags) with were used in industrial settings.
