Welcome to the forum, James.

These may or may not help.  Interphones are usually quite simple internally, so the wiring should be easily traceable.

The complexity comes in the system wiring.  There were at least 20 wiring schemes for interphones, and phone models and variations were tailored to the particular wiring plan adopted.  Systems linking only two phones were simpler than systems linking numerous phones.

Photos showing the internals of your phone(s) are encouraged.  See:

Paul,
Thank you so much for your reply and I should be able to make one of these work.
Thanks again,
James

You're welcome, James.

If you have an appetite to look into the standard system wiring, try looking in the Western Electric 1916 year book.  If you do an internet search for it, you'll find a copy on princetonimaging.com that's in a format that many of us find cumbersome to use.

The version on Google Books has some scanning issues, but can be downloaded as a pdf and browsed at your leisure.  It also includes a Railway Supply Supplement.  The interphone info starts on about page 242 of the pdf (of 1711 pages  :o).

Happy Reading!
