When started stopped they using this telephone jack?

I've just got a jack like this and put it up at our guest room.
(The room were my 1936 Siemens telephone are located.)

I would like to know when the used such jack's, so if you could tell me  :) :) :)

The jack is dated 1964.

That's an easy one d_s_k! In North America, the NEVER started using it! Any idea what countries did use it?

I am sure Germany used it, and probably Austria.

 I am not sure if yours is the same length and diameter, but I have a few that were manufactured by Western Electric for the Bell System. Since they are only three-conductor jacks they could on be used with sidetone instruments and subsets. Latter, Bell came out with the 4-prong arrangement.
