New forum members are very welcome and encouraged to take a guess. After all, there are no wrong guesses, just one lucky one. No one knows the winning bid on any auction until it ends. However, it is important to get your guess in before someone else grabs your guess.

Listed a bit more than a day ago in a 5 day auction with no reserve and starting at $99.00 ( with thanks to HarrySmith for the tip ) is what the seller claims to be a NOS 1955 ivory WE 354 with coiled matching handset cord and solid ivory handset. The seller provided a good array of pictures. Since being listed, the phone has received 1 bid from 1 buyers so the phone will sell. It will go higher but the question is exactly how high when the auction ends?

NOTE:  We will use a $5 gap rule between guesses to prevent crowding. As such, keep your guess at least $5 away from prior guesses for this contest. All guesses, original and a single allowed revised guess if needed, must be submitted at least 24 hours before the auction ends. This is a 5 day auction so just a bit under 3 days from the start of this contest to get your guesses in.

The seller listed it as an "NOS IVORY WESTERN ELECTRIC 354 WALL TELEPHONE, NOS CLOTH COILED CORD, DATED 1955" with the item condition as "Used" and "Never used, NOS condition. NO cracks, chips or discoloration. Coiled cloth cord is also NOS" and with the auction listing description saying "Up for bid is a beautiful IVORY WESTERN ELECTRIC 354 WALL TELEPHONE.  This telephone was NEW OLD STOCK in the box when I acquired it years ago.  I added a very nice vintage dial number card and replaced the straight cord with a NOS ivory cloth coiled cord.  I have never had it on display.  It is in excellent original condition, with NO cracks chips or discoloration.  The coiled cord is just like new. Like all of these early thermoplastic telephones, the housing has shrunk just a bit, making it a tight fit to put the housing back on the metal base.  Likewise, the transmitter cap has shrunk down over the transmitter element just enough to make for a tight fit.  The dial is a 6D.  The phone is dated 1955 throughout.  THIS TELEPHONE HAS NOT BEEN TESTED.  ACTUAL WORKING CONDITION IS UNKNOWN.  All in all this is an excellent example of an Ivory Western Electric 354.  Don't miss out on your opportunity to add this near-perfect Ivory WE 354 to your collection.
