I don't know, is it just me or does nothing here look even remotely Western Electric ??

Look halfway down this page of prototypes and field trial phones at the Trimline I.

Funny that the F-number on this phone is one digit off what Paul has on his site and it's from 10-60. Maybe a variation? The pictures of the insides are nice to see in the auction. Those network screws look plenty Western Electric to me. Also the gold of the base looks identical to the gold on the 701.

This phone should go higher than a kite in March.

OK, I stand corrected. Very interesting piece of WE history there. Yes, it should command an astronomical price!

This set has been on ebay several times over the years.  It was also written up in the July 2001 Singing Wires -- after one of its ebay appearances.

There were several attempts along this line, with minor variations.

It would be neat to have one of these prototypes, but the price will be way out of my league.  Wonder how many of these are around?

Does this work?
