Hello Phone Lovers!   I have just been given an Automatic Electric black wall phone - with the 10 69 14 number on the back.  Number on dial is 909A.  Handset has ear piece with 6 holes - coiled long extension cord.  I know it was hard wired.  However, I don't know which terminals to connect the house wiring too.  I can hard wire it again with no problem, or attached a spaded end modular - but just need to know which terminals the red and green go to. The numbers above the terminals are:  9 21 15 10 16 8 6.   The other number on the back is:  NC902000 CXX

Thanks very much!

Jim,
Hook your line in wires to 10 and 8, color won't matter. Your phone came without a ringer (CXX). If it has a ringer in it you will have to put a jumper wire from network 9 to network 6. If you have a frequency ringer in it , it still maynot work. Can you post a pic of your ringer so we can see what kind it is?   Hope this helps,   stub

Jim,
You have a 25~ hz. frequency ringer and it may ring just like it is. Try to get it wired and see if the clapper moves  any when called from cell. Remember that the ringer voltage is AC at about 90 volts and will bite if you touch the ringer wires when being called.
I'll be back later this evening to see how it's going.       stub

Also, if it doesn't ring loudly, just move that heavy weight in a little to reduce the weight of the clapper.

Hi All - Got the AE 500 mounted on the wall!  Thanks for the tips - I redid the cord too - on a wooden dowel at 170 for 4 hours.  Let it cool - I don't think it looks too bad; it's a really long cord to begin with - hangs almost down to the floor!

I've posted a picture of it in my dining room!

Nice job! It is an AE 90 not a 500. I would replace that cord, it is pretty stretched out. A black cord is not hard to find and are pretty cheap.

An easy way to fix a stretched out cord is to reverse the direction of the loops.
