I've seen broken pot metal housings before but it was always just a piece missing - an ear or a chunk out of the lower edge, never a bend associated with it.

That shell (housing) looks like one of those knock-offs.  Usually the work North Electric Co are on the left side of the mouse-hole on the back side.  Also, there should be vents on both sides of the indentation.

All the knockoff North-style housings I've seen are plastic. Some have "TEC" molded in the housing (Telephone Engineering Co., Simpson, PA). The knockoff housings were often used on WE or NE 302 bases.
