Take a look at this rare beast from the 1940's!
It's Bakalite (sic) and comes complete with beautiful and tactile pewter (allegedly) adornments.
It's modular too.

108 pounds BIN for a "Bakalite" modular 500 from the late 70's or early 80's eh?
What a "deal". ;)
The only things pewter are his added decorations. That is definately a 70's phone.

£108 = $170 approx.
Where's "Mr. Helpful"?
"Dear Seller;
Hello, my name is Mr. Helpful and the phone you have is nearly priceless. Only a keen eyed expert telephone divvy like myself can deduce that it's a modular 500 from the 1940s.
This phone obviously contains a built in time machine gone slightly awry. The slightly awry ones are even more nearly priceless. Be very careful using this phone because removing the protective pewter bits for any length of time may result in the entire State of California being sent to the Jurrasic age, which was before the cell phone.
Just thought you might like to know. Please don't thank me for this information. I just do it just because I like to help, and I'm so very very smart."
Speaking of metal clad phones, here's an oddity:

Right. Speaking of metal on phones, here's an oddity:

24k gold over sterling silver?
And it's only $3000?
A bargain I say.
Sterling Silver and, 24K gold! Wow! I gotta have that!!
Bill Cahill ;D
All that silver and gold...Is that why they're called "Galions"? ;)

Is it just me or does anyone else think this phone is really ugly and silly?
No? Okay, so maybe I'm just ugly and silly but I'd still rather see the simple black phone that lies underneath all that precious crud. :P
What are these people smoking? And personally, was never a fan of the metal dial and handset covers. Seemed kinda like a beverly hillbillies kinda thing. You know what I mean? Like a white-trashy attempt at being classy.
This gold phone is something. Not really my taste at all, but clearly someone got pretty excited about it at one point.
