Interesting Find on Ebay

I recently won a Western Electric Walnut 295 Subset on Ebay.  It had been painted black, and I figured it would be a good refinishing project for the winter.

When I received it, I opened it, and found the attached receipt inside.  I paid $31 for the ringer.  I assume the original buyer made the purchase, put it on a shelf, and there it sat for 48 years.

I don't know what the appreciation is over 48 years on $5... Would be an interesting comparison.

Very neat! I thought $5 was a steal for back in the day - but a quick reference to the inflation calculator online yields a different perspective....
