Handmade test telephone for cable workers

Here I have another one made at Oslo telecom workshop.
I can remember to have seen the workers using one like this when splicing a cable with at least 100 pairs.
They tested the pairs one by one before splicing.

It contains one transistor, probably from the lat 50-ies.  This is the A apparatus, and in the other end they had the B apparatus.
for me they looked equal.

Have to appreciate something like this from an era where even the tools that were made in-house were as nice as the products that went to customers.
