It should be fine as long as you don't need to dial a number with a '5' or '6' in it ( I imagine that the seller's grandmother didn't need to do so).  You could remove the nut, rotate the finger wheel 180 deg, and put the nut back, but that might spoil the charm of the phone.

The housing is a replacement.  The date "clock" is molded/stamped on the inside.  More than likely hard plastic.
