Jan found this last week at a Flea market in really nice working condition. Really nice 80 year old phone, still together with no damage but a little paint from a very sloppy painter...Doug

Nice find, Doug! I have yet to get a C1 with a dial.

Try some Acetone to get rid of that wall paint. I believe this was the era that WE used Acetone-proof paint, but I'd still test it somewhere inside to make sure.

Love those 684BA subsets... use one on my 212....

The B in 684-BA indicates a high impedance ringer. Usually, the BA subsets have  B1A ringers, the same ones found in 302s. These 302 style ringers were often added at the Western Electric repair shops. It is much more difficult to find an original 684-BA like this with the older ringer. Note the ringer coils are stamped 2150 rather than 700.
