For our next auction, let's have something a bit different.  Here we have a rare pay station by Gray, made specifically to be mounted to a standard desk stand telephone.  The set comes with a Western Electric telephone, and it's quite the nifty thing!

Remember, the deadline for entries is one day before the auction's end.

Pretty cool phone.  I'll take the first guess and say $351.65, give or take a million.

Bill Cahill

A beuty for sure....
My guess is 459.76 .

One question, when did the 25 cent slot first get used.
I know in juke boxes, they were a nickel until the late 50's.
Seems very high for calls back then, even for long distance dimes would add up quickly, but 25 cents would seem very stiff.

Quarters would have really come in handy for long-distance calls, which were really, really expensive.  It was probably only 20 years before this was made that a three minute call from New York to San Francisco would have set you back ten bucks.   The price would have undoubtedly come down by the time this was made, but such calls were most likely still pretty expensive.

It looks like Mark's abandoning of his low-ball bidding strategy has paid off.  He wins this week's honors with his bid of $750, which is right on the nose!    Congratulations to Mark Stevens!

Stay tuned for the next auction, to be posted shortly.
