USPS Shenanigans

I found out the hard way that eBay international shipping is basically a "black hole" you dump your package into without any tracking info. Have had two packages lost and both  eBay & PayPal side with the buyer unless you can provide "proof" that the package actually was delivered. A regular catch 22.  >:(

End result is that I no longer allow for ANY international sales. All shipments are with USPS and I make sure the package is scanned into the system & I get a printed receipt. Just dropping it into the box is not enough. At least I can schedule USPS a pick-up my packages if needed.

I have tracking updates that follow the Italy package to the guy's door.  It doesn't tell me who stole his transmitter, receiver and extra wooden parts  though.

Every time I find something on eBay that I may need, I always look for place of shipment. If I have a choice, I buy from anywhere other than Florida. May cost me a few cents more but I avoid the dreaded OPA LOCKA black hole.

Given only one seller, no choice as in this case. Well, knowing where it is this morning, I can put that project on the back burner for some time, until the item arrives.

The last package I got from Opa-Locka only took 6 hours to make it an hour north to my post office! Keep your hopes up!

Thanks, Harry. And I seem to have gotten lucky on this one. Only sat in OPA LOCKA for one day and seven hours, unlike most post office which turn stuff around within an hour (arrived -> departed). Would love to be a fly on the wall in that building to see how it operates.

After all that there was nothing in/at my mailbox.  As Mr. Dylan so aptly put it, nothing was delivered.

Could have been a truck passing through the loading zone just long enough to scan the trailer, unopened, in and then scan it out. Had the contents been off loaded into the building, they'd still be there.
