WE 20-B...good deal?

20-B is the nickel version, and 20-S is the black painted version, so this has definitely been re-painted.  If it was a Bell system re-paint they would have crossed out the 20-B and re-stamped it 20-S.  An independent telco would have been less likely to do that.  A 229w should have an insulated hole in the back of the cup for the transmitter cord, so that tells me something is a little off.  Is there a transmitter cord inside the cup?

229/229W transmitter could be used either way

That's interesting...there is absolutely no trace of nickel plating anywhere on this phone (other than the transmitter, of course)...

I'll check the inside of the transmitter later. I haven't actually opened the transmitter up yet!
