Terry,
Here's what I have to work with. All here but the power cord ( female, 1" round , 2 pole , 2 wire , non-polarized , bakelite  ??? , twist to lock ) and 88 telephone. No info on how to hook to the 88 phone. Any Ideas.   stub

Half way there Ken! The "Monophone" connections are shown on the top of the schematic. I have a spare phone with a cord cut off short so that should make it easy to put the two pieces together.

I will compare your pictures to the amp I have here to see if it is identical.

I think that I have the AC cord with mine. I assume it is the same as the AC cord for the Shoebox 1A2 systems. Round twist lock type plug.

Terry,
There shouldn't be a problem firing up this unit as I only see one capacitor in it and the fuse is good!
Glad yours has the cord still on it as I only see " From Monophone " on the drawing. ;D
The speaker housing is metal on this 88 ( looks like metal speaker housing in AE 57 Catalog) but plastic on the 88 T . Did you notice that AE conveniently didn't show the amp in the 57 catalog :o  Thanks,  stub

Quite sure my speakers are both plastic. One is on an 88 and he other a 88T. Will check.

So you have the complete cord to the 88 telephone still attached to the amp? That is a lucky break. Not sure when I will next be going to our cabin where my 88 phone is but I will pack it up for you and send it then. You want the amp box as a spare as well?

Just checked my 88 set. My two amps are identical to yours. I just have the 1 power cord and it is twist lock but can be put in ether way, IE not polarity sensitive.

My Sand Beige 88 has a beige speaker cord but a gray cord from phone to amp. I would assume it is original. Maybe they used gray cords for all Colored 88's but black cords with black 88's. speaker is plastic and appears to have been painted beige over black plastic.

Terry,
I'll only need your extra amp if I can't get this up and running , for the time being I'll be looking for a power cord. Thanks, I appreciate it .  stub

WE Dataphones from the 1970's had that style of power cord connector on the chasis.

Wouldn't it also be the same as the power cord for WECo Shoebox 1A2 systems? There must be a source of these sockets to put on the end of AC cord/plug sets.

Appears to be called an L1-15 twist-Lock Connector as opposed to a Receptacle which would mount in an electrical box in the wall. I have found tem available for $11.95 up to over $140 EACH for industrial versions. Here are a few. I would assume that some electrical wholesalers have them or can get them.

From Wikipedia:

Twist-locking connectors:
Twist-locking connectors were first invented by Harvey Hubbell III in 1938 and "Twist-Lock" remains a registered trademark of Hubbell Incorporated,[8][9] although the term is used generically to refer to NEMA locking connectors manufactured by any company. Locking connectors use curved blades. Once pushed into the receptacle, the plug is twisted and its now-rotated blades latch into the receptacle. To unlatch the plug, the rotation is reversed. The locking coupling makes for a more reliable connection in commercial and industrial settings, where vibration or incidental impact could disconnect a non-locking connector.

Terry,
Looking thru the plugs and don't think any will work. All I could find were 1.41" O D and are polarized and the hole in amp case is 1.0625" O D. and socket is non-polarized.  Still looking. Thanks  stub

Oh good it survived the trip. Not my best packing job. I didn't have a very good assortment of packing material available. Did the 'avocado' 880 survive as well? Is the 'on' indicator illuminated in your picture of the 88? Guess I should be brave and plug in my 88.
