Vern is on a short road trip and found a "Birthday Phone". Here is Steve H (dial Guy's) e-mail description:

Vern Potter is in Colorado and he has located a "Birthday #302." The date stamp is "8-19-52" and appears on the housing. The ringer, coil, and baseplate say "8-52." The handset elements have different date stamps. The set has a 5H dial. There is a crack in the back corner. Straight rubber handset cord, no line cord. If you need this Birthday Phone, call Vern at his hotel (970) 242-0651. He'll be there tonight. He can purchase the phone if you want it. Price is $75 plus postage from Salt Lake City.

Vern's e-mail is full on his "toy" computer (webtv). If you are interested in the phone then call Vern. Steve posted the  e-mail  on both list-servers.
Vern is on MST. Tell him Jim said that calls up till midnight MST were not a problem. I am pretty sure he would agree.
