Has anyone else noticed that the dates are stamped into the body of the Receiver. I couldn't get a real clear photo, but this one is dated 8-51.

I just recently noticed that some of my U1's have the date stamped and others don't.  I don't know when this practice started.  My 11/50 U1 doesn't have a date stamped in it, and it appears the "44A" is stamped in larger letters on the varistor than it is on later elements.

Somewhere around here I have a 1953 U1 that got converted later to a U3 when the varistor was replaced with the little green Tic Tac looking thing on a wire.  I'll be interested in seeing if it has the date stamped in it.  To me, it's still a '53 even if WECo re-dated it after the U3 conversion.

I like to date items to the oldest confirm-able date.
