Bought this at a thrift store yesterday for $25. I'd love to know more about it, when it was made etc. Searched the web, K.E. Dooner, & R.O. Meyer books to no avail.
Front of the box says "Western Electric", Handset is "Federal Telephone & Radio". No I.D. markings inside.

There's a lot out there on my Strom'-Carlson 1157, but nothing on this guy.
Thanks

Looks like someone installed a 425 network. Anyone recognize the other parts?

The dial looks like a North Electric dial with an original North dial card.  I'm guessing an E1 handset would have been used with that hook originally.

I'd say this qualifies as a Frankenphone. Originally, it would have had a separate transmitter and receiver and black bells and a different hook and Western Electric induction coil and condenser. WE did convert some of the separate trans-rec types to F1 handset, but the hook looked more like the one on their 211 or 354 sets.

I forgot to add, and don't know if it shows up too clearly in the photos, but
it has the "Push to Talk" gizmo that hooks the switchhook down.
