Dial-Less 302

Now here is an interesting phone I was given yesterday by a fellow who learned I collected phones from an ex-co-worker....

It is essentlally a dial - less 302 which had been used as a Hotel phone (Room #62). It has its original cloth cords in great shape, and although I will have to get it over to the museum to use my strap wrench on the handset covers to get the dates of the elements, the parts I can get at right now are:

Base 12-50
Inductor 12-9-50
Ringer 12-9-50

We seldom see dial-less 302s here, so this is a bit unusual for this area (in fact we seldom see 302s at all since this was independent territory and we are more likely to see Uniphones.

The phone is in great shape - I need to clean it and remove some paint splatter. Beautiful with its original cloth cords!

I will try to get it over to the museum later on - I spent yesterday evening in Emergency, as I have had problems with gall bladder for the past two weeks, an it seemed to be getting worse, and there was also some concern about my heart. Well, the heart is fine, but I have a whopping gall bladder infection, so I am home on some very strong antibiotics. Because of my heart problems, they don't want to try to take out the gall bladder at this time. Great time for dieting - I don't even want to look at food, let along eat it!

Hi Howard:

Well if it has one advantage, it is that I have no desire too eat, or even to see of smell food. I am trying to choke down some chicken soup right now, but I might as well be trying to drink hot mud! So now, all I am ingesting are Cipro and Metronidazole.

Hopefully I will be feeling a bit better tomorrow, as I plan to install a wall mount for out new livingroom TV, and if I feel really good, get some work done over in the museum...

Both Cipro and Metronidazole can cause severe indigestion.

Good thing I can't eat! At least I can play with my phones! Actually, a few minutes ago, I ate the first thing in a week, a plain well drained hamburg, meat only. Tasted like sawdust, but I hope it jump starts my appetite :-[

Cool phone Dave :D I have a few and I really like them, especially the one from the last manual exchange in the US, Bryant Pond Maine. I hope you recover quickly from the infection, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Heed Howard's advice, finish ALL the antibiotics, don't stop when you start to feel better.

I am just waiting for the "start to feel better" part :) Hope it will come soon. I have had trouble with gall stones for  few years, and they are being a bit cautious by not wanting to take it out with my heart problems. So, hopefully, the antibiotics will get it under control.

I got the other two keys for my new N1317A switchboard, so plan to find a bit of time tomorrow to put them on, if I feel halfway decent...

Do they not have ultrasound treatment for stones over there? Basically where they use the same thing they use to pester unborn children, they set it to a frequency that breaks up stones in whatever part of your body they're in, and then they pass through the holes they were blocking up, no invasive surgery required... :)

Not to joke about it Dave, but do they know you by your first name there now!? And do they have any sort of Loyalty Rewards program there at Emerg?

Take it easy (again) and try to get better.

What I was told is that it works for calcitic stones, but what I have are fibrous stones and it won't break them up. Yes we do have it here, but it is used more for kidney stones than for gall stones. So, I guess I am stuck with the drugs,  Their concern with even laparoscopic surgery is the anesthetic, and getting me back out of it. So the longer they can avoid that risk, the better...

Worst thing is I know most of them by first name! I had a great young nurse last night. easy on the eyes, and gentle!

The good news tonight, no she's not here, but I felt well enough to change another of the switches on the N1317A switchboard which currently is sitting on the dining room table. This one had the outside toggle broken off - I merely changed the outside portion of it, exchanging the outside portion with one from another switch..

So, two down - the nastiest to go - this one I will have to go from the board drawings, and trace the wires...
