I don't see any 295A's on eBay at the moment but I found a few in the archives.

My question is: what's the difference between a 295A and the unidentified models such as this item?

These seem cheap and plentiful.

The 300K in the Ebay listing is local battery (hand generator and batteries). The 295A is common battery.

They are cheap and plentiful because no one really wants them except people who zap fish or earthworms.  The biggest difference is that they have magnetos.  They cannot be hooked up to a regular phone line without modification.  A 295A is essentially the same as a 534.

Yet if a seller parts it out, he might get over $100 for just the generator.

A member of the forum just listed a 295A. I have it on my watch list.

Thanks, guys!

...but you have to hook it up to a lightbulb

There's actually a ringer box currently listed with a light bulb attached. There's even a picture of the light bulb lit up.

I think you need to sell it during fishing season to get the big $$$

Now if someone clever enough attached the crank part of the magneto to a set of blades, you could make a small wind turbine out of a magneto.... :D
