soaked-in permanent marker?

You can try a number of cleaners like alcohol, naptha, degreser.....
Just try it lightly at and be aware of any original paint loss.
At least its black marker, pretty subtle.

That's two who've said 'leave as is.'  (Collector I bought it from claimed he didn't know-- had just left it that way.)

Does anyone know what's *in* the ink for a laundry marker or 'sharpie?'

Assuming it has some sort of dye that can't be washed out...

If that's the case, update from Suhoni56 on progress & looks like I might be out of luck.
