TCI has reproduced a full color copy of the Automatic Electric Catalog 4055F Monophones and Substation Accessories.

You can order it through the TCI Company store at:

http://www.telephonecollectors.org/store/store.htm

This Monophone catalog has been reprinted in full color from the original. To enhance it, four additional pages of color Monophones have been added: Pages 2A, 2B, 26A, and 26B. This color material was originally issued as a part of other official literature and brochures. The catalog has been printed on high quality "slick" stock, very similar to the original. It's truly a collector's item. We suggest you get yours now as quantities will be limited in the future. The price includes postage in the U.S.

To see what's inside, go Here: http://www.telephonecollectors.info/ae_4055f_preview/

PRICE INCLUDES FREE SHIPPING IN THE USA!
The shipping cost to Canada and other non-USA locations will be based on a seven ounce package.

I purchased one of these a few months back.  I have to say the quality is superb!  I certainly would encourage anyone to add it to your collection.

BTW Russ, I think you got the WE Catalog? The AE 4055F reprint has only been available for a few days now.

The 1934 4055 catalog is on the TCI document page, I believe.

Hi Terry,

I recently acquired an original 4055 and a 4055-A catalog plus the 4055F reproduction.
Gary Goff provided the original 4055F.

jsowers

I recently acquired something that's not a sales catalog, but what appears to be a bill insert, and another bill insert that looks like it went with the December bill, both posted below in case anyone wants to see.

The first one features the AE80 and it could be from the time when color was first introduced, around the mid-1950s, and it names the colors and gives a few suggestions. It shows all eight colors the AE80 came in at the time. I've seen plenty of ads for WE color phones, but very few for the AEs. This one folds in thirds.

The second one seems to humorously suggest Santa's been stealing from the phone company. It's not in full color and it folds in half. Both these bill inserts came from the Huntsville, AL area, I think. Has anyone ever seen them before? I hadn't.

Very nice.  Thanks Jonathan for posting those bill inserts.  Didn't AE manufacture phones in Huntsville, AL?  I have an AE90 still in the box and I believe the box indicates the plant was in Huntsville.  Perhaps Terry knows.

I lived in Huntsville from 1962-1967 when I was a kid.  We had Western Electric phones in our neck of the woods.

jsowers

Dennis, I was mistaken about Huntsville. Thanks for the heads up.

The seller was from Birmingham, AL. I checked the return address when I got home. I'm not sure if Birmingham was GTE or not.

Yes nice brochures Jonathan! That is a lot of AE 80's for one house! Well, I have more than that I guess...

All the color names they listed for the 80's are correct AE colors. Sometimes the Telco's customized some of the color names where they thought they would do better with different names. And yes AE's dark blue sets (AE80's [rare] and AE 90's [extremely rare] were officially called "Colonial Blue".

Colors missing in the brochure are Gardenia White, Forget Me Not Blue, Camelia Pink and (of course) Ebony Black.

AE did manufacture sets in Huntsville Alabama. I don't know when the plant was built but it was the later days of AE when they were building sets there. A lot of the "new" sets designed for direct sales were built there along with models like the 80, 80E, 90, 182, 192(desk & wall Starlite), 981 & 982 (desk & wall Styleline). Also digtal electronic multiline sets for OMNI PABX's were made in Huntsville.
